pandora's daughter

Rodarte for Target dress, Gorilla Glass cobalt 2g plugs, rings [random dragon ring, Robert Lee Morris for E&J knuckle ring, claddagh from Ireland, rest .925 toe rings from Pike Place Market], Pyrrha birdcage pendant

So yet another post where I'm my own photographer, without a tripod, remote, and with a fixed focal lens (read: SO HARD TO DO) in a mirror. And since I'm at my best guy friend's apartment, the only mirror in the whole damn apartment is in the bathroom (read again: shitty lighting to be seen in first photo). Whatevs. I'll just pretend I'm being "artistic". Hah.

Joining Team Ten Thousand Rings... I find it fun and feel like I could fuck someone up by a mere backhand. If attacked, of course. I'm not a violent person, promise. I never wore rings on my ring finger (the wedding one) until I realized I probably wouldn't ever actually wear an official ring there, so I felt liberated to capitalize away on that finger.

So being in Seattle I've found a lot of really cool shops that have local artists' jewelry... The duo of Pyrrha, Wade Papin and Danielle Wilmore, actually hail from Vancouver. They use antique 19th century wax seals cast in silver and gold to make their talisman jewelry. They also make initials cast from wax seals and intaglios cast in bronze from plaster representations of mythological scenes. If this kind of stuff interests you at all you should definitely check out their website... they have their full bio, have really gorgeous photography just of their layouts, and you can actually buy some of their stuff on there.

The particular necklace (that I found at this really cute shop called Watson Kennedy in downtown Seattle, actually going back today to get some gifts) reads "Qui me neglige, me perde" which means "He who neglects me, loses me", with a birdcage and a tiny escaped bird. Its pretty self explanatory but I guess each seal has a really cool history taken from family heraldry, which I have yet to research.

Fashion side-note, and being the worst vegan EVER, J. Mendel stole my heart. Get it. Stole. Must do an animal-cruelty-ridden post soon just for the sheer beauty of his stuff. I CAN'T HELP IT. Thank god I'll never be able to afford his stuff. But honestly if Gilles Mendel wanted to use my skin to make something that beautiful I guess it would be a good way to go. Its like the bear who dreamt of being a poet's coat. Oh digress.

Maaaan, I wish I had been quick enough and clever enough to nab that Rodarte dress! Every time I see it on someone, it burns! and you make it look so delicious with the many rings and gothy vibe.
